approaching vapid with periodic bouts of genius
So the evil dentist (who really is very sweet and can't be 30) broke some crappy news to me yesterday. A lot of it. She did her whole exam, looked at the x-rays, consulted with her hygienist then turned to me with an overly wide smile and said, "Well... you don't have cancer!"
She's right. I don't have cancer. For that I am eternally grateful.
However, I do have a LOT of work that needs to be done. I can think of at least 3 people off the top of my head to blame all of this on (Mom! Childhood orthodontist! Most recent dentist!) but really, I'm the idiot for not going to the dentist regularly, or, really, more than once every 3-5 years. I accept that.
Because I can't bare to really go into detail, AND I recognize that no one would ever want to read about someone else's dental issues in any sort of detail, I will list my issues here in htmled (hopefully) bulleted form:
Now, I knew walking in that I had a few cavities. I've felt no pain of any kind, I only went in because I had this loose crown that I needed to have fixed. She told me all of this in one extremely overwhelming half hour sit down session, which she also ILLUSTRATED using different colored pencils and one very intimidating Big Black Sharpie. By the end of my two hour appointment yesterday it was all I could do not to cry on my way back to work. I had no idea my teeth were in that bad shape. To see my teeth they look like normal teeth! It's not like I've got green teeth with all these stains and visible pits and grossness.
I do have dental insurance, but it's not GREAT dental insurance. She is going to write all of this up for me in the next few days, including what everything will cost me out of pocket.
I'm a little freaked out about all this. Impending pain, impending expense.
Boogety boogety enough of the dental talk. Horizontal Rule Time.
Early tomorrow morning The Dude and I will be getting into my car and driving to New York City. Tomorrow I turn 28 and we are getting out of here to explore a different gorgeous East Coast city for a couple days. We will be staying at the Pod Hotel, which is this very Urban Techno Chic kind of place. I liked it because you can just tell from the website that the sheets are clean, it has a docking station for my iPod (not like I'll use that) AND, piece de resistance... a waterfall shower head! I want to try this puppy out before I buy one for our new house, whenever we get that. V. excited about that.
The best part of the trip, besides the Kiss Between Two Young Lovers Atop The Empire State Building, of course, is that tomorrow night we will see one of my very best friends in the entire world, Janie! She is working in the city tomorrow so we're going out for dinner/drinks when she gets out.
I'm so excited for this trip.
So then on Friday my mom is coming down to Boston, and we'll spend the day exploring the city like we always do on my birthday. Very excited about that. Then on Saturday I get to see my other very best friend in the entire world Daphne, as her husband is also turning 28 (+2) on Monday.
Just a little heads up, I have been a knitting FOO lately, so when I get my act together, y'all are going to have to adjust to a slight change in this blog. I will be incorporating a bit of the old knitterificness into my online diary here, and I will be showcasing my little treasures of craftiness (I couldn't decide whether to say "treasures" or "niblets") for you all to get bored looking at and reading the details about. :)
And that's really all I have to say right now.
Love,
Jenny
