approaching vapid with periodic bouts of genius
Yeah, I haven't updated in a while. I'm not dead, but I'm not going to write a full entry now. Just a couple little updates to say yo what's up.
Still actually working on the STCMW CD. This is taking a lot more thought than I originally anticipated. Obviously I'm not working on it full time, because I don't care how intently you're working on a mix CD it shouldn't take weeks and weeks. I work on it when I can, usually when I should be working on the kind of stuff for which I actually get paid. :)
We put an offer on a house and it got accepted!! Then we did the inspection and learned that the house was apparently built not with wood, brick or concrete, but on stardust, wishes and dreams with a little hope to glue it all together. We're not buying that house and we're starting ALLLLL over again this week. It's legit a bummer, my friends. But we're looking at 3 houses today and 3 tomorrow.
My obsession for the past month or two has been a spinning wheel. It's what I WANT, man! I want an Ashford Traditional, double drive, double treadle. However, I want a cheap used one, and I'll be happy to find one with a single drive and treadle, because I can add that stuff on later. I've already bought 4, um, masses (?) of roving with which to practice and make my first attempts at handspun yarn, and I DREAM about spinning them. Literally, at night, I dream of spinning them. I can't wait. Anyway, The Dude and I had our one year anniversary on Sunday (in Jenny years that's like a decade) and his gift to me was to buy me a series of classes on the pottery wheel. This is a man who knows what I like. However, while I'm DYING to take pottery classes, I asked him ever so sweetly (with batting eyelashes and heaving breast) if perhaps he wouldn't mind if instead of tuition for pottery classes he maybe could contribute to a spinning wheel for me? Pretty please with a cherry on top and whipped cream in all the naughty places? He said that was absolutely fine with him.
Love that boy.
So now I'm on the hunt for a used Ashford Traditional and I won't rest until I find one.
Dude is moving out of his apartment this Sunday and up to his dad's house for a few months until we find a house that a) we are allowed to purchase and b) will remain standing, which means I am back to full time at my Brookline apartment with all my 21 year old roommates. Oh yay.
Actually, I'm looking forward to spending a last couple months in the city before the big move to the 'burbs. Brookline is a proper town, but also considered a neighborhood in Boston, for those of y'all who aren't entirely savvy to the Metro Boston area.
Work is going alright. We were basically told that Ted is here to stay and we're all going to have to deal with that, but at the same time I think Ted was told that we do things a little differently here and he needs to back off a bit and accept that. I still think it's not entirely over there, but until he gets the boot and life returns to normal, we're all trying to suck it up and work with him. We FINALLY had our new Office Bitch Manager start but I'm still having to do half of her job for her. She seems somewhat helpless, but I'm hoping that's just because she's young and isn't used to the job yet, and that she'll step up when she gets more comfortable. I'm hoping it's not because she actually IS completely helpless. Anyway, hopefully soon I'll be able to fully submerge myself into my new job. I'm also hoping that perhaps I'll get a raise to go with my promotion, though I haven't heard a peep about that one yet.
Okay so so much for a brief update. There it is.
Peace.
