Not so much of a contest as... a challenge? A swap! A swap.

Smed recently wrote an entry entitled "40 Songs That Changed The World" in which he responded to a recent Rolling Stone insert of the same name. Smed, as per usual, acted as a musical inspiration for me.

I hereby pledge to you, my dear and faithful readers (oh you are so dear, especially if you are faithful enough to read through all my Ted drama, not to mention an entirely overly detailed description of me watching Dirty Dancing) that I will make a mix and send it to you, of the Songs That Changed My World. If you request one, however, you must pledge to send me a mix of the Songs That Changed Your World.

Keep in mind, these are Songs That Changed Our Worlds, not Songs That Changed THE World, so go ahead and make it as personal as you like. If "After the Rain" by Nelson was a song that changed your world, for example, well by all means, include it. (I do vow, however, that there will be no Nelson on my mix.)

My mix will be neither chronological nor alphabetical but, in paying homage to the great fictional Rob Gordon, autobiographical. I will take you on a musical journey through my 28 years of life, and highlight the songs that uniquely served to usher me into each new personal musical era. You will also get a hand typed note explaining what purpose each song served, and why it is included on my mix.

As you'll see there are some embarassing anomoles in my otherwise (I think) wonderful musical travels, but I hope you'll forgive me those. (You might even secretly enjoy them!)

Simply leave a comment declaring participation and an email address and I will follow up with you to get a mailing address.

For those of you who are familiar with my usual mix making/mailing protocol, you will, I'm sure, be pleasantly surprised when you do actually receive what I have promised (yeah... sometimes I'm a slacker) and not surprised at all, I'm sure, at how frickin' awesome my mix will be. Ha! No, but seriously, I swear I really will send these out, probably this week, and I really hope you'll like them!

Again, you have to PROMISE you will reciprocate. I want to know where you've stopped on your musical journey through life. And yes, Journey might be on the mix...

This actually may have to be a double disc series, now that I think about it... huh...
