approaching vapid with periodic bouts of genius

o for that first kiss of summer...

Because the hell of my living situation has gotten to the point where even thinking about it makes me shake in anger and impotent frustration, and because even the thought of the roommate who used to actually be my friend but who has in recent days resorted to the most infantile and passive aggressively damaging acts of revenge because it turns out everyone wants to go on living without him makes me want to impale one eye with one point of the newly-sharpened pinking shears and the other eye with the other point, and then squeeeeeeeeze, and because the sad, pathetic excuse for a man who I call Boss JUST... WON'T... DIE...

I'm going to write an entry entirely about the house Ken and I visited yesterday which might, just might, become Our First House. It might not, of course, but I need something sweet and lovely to think about so that I don't have to inflict pain upon myself or another person.

This house is a pleasant beige with black shutters, white flower boxes and a purple door. It has a detached garage and a flat, wide driveway with a cute front lawn. It's an adorable 5 room cape on a quiet, tree-lined street which just begs to be walked on after dinners and biked on during fragrant, breezy summer afternoons when all you can hear are the rustling of the leaves, a far-off lawnmower and the buzzing of all god's creatures in the bushes and the streams...

The kitchen is warm, bright and inviting, with an island (dream) plenty of counter and cabinet space and lovely hardwood floors throughout the first floor. It opens up into the dining room, which is spacious and bright with a fireplace. The living room is cozy and warm, with a little nook for a computer desk or sewing machine. The first floor has a full bath, and there's a half bath on the second floor, between the master bedroom and the second bedroom. Both bedrooms are small but very cozy and livable.

The basement has one heated, finished room, perfect as a guest bedroom, crafting nook, or, more likely, ManTown(tm). It also has plenty of storage space, and hookups for a washer and dryer.

There is a deck which wraps from the side door out to the back of the house, and there are trees around the lovely yard which, in the summer, would hopefully afford us a bit of privacy.

A short stroll down the street leads you to a patch of woods, perfect for those days when you just need to be alone amongst trees and a carpet of pine needles. Across the main road up the street is another quieter road which has a small bridge over a bubbling little brook, and which also leads to more as-yet undeveloped woods.

The up-to-date septic system is big enough to accommodate three bedrooms, should the owners of this little property ever decide to expand, and the charm of the house could only be enriched by an adorable farmer's porch on the front side, furnished, of course, with two rocking chairs for summer evenings.

Now that I have hopefully left you all with the peaceful and breezy feeling I pray my next residence will leave me with, I am going to go to the gym because the vice that has entangled all of the major organs in my upper torso is continuing to tighten no matter how much I think of new houses, and since no one is home to boff the everlovin' daylights out of me (which, thus far, seems to be my only means of true relaxation and "letting-go") I figure maybe awkwardly moving around on one of those crazy eliptical machines which I continue to suspect were not made to allow for any natural kind of human movement and are actually a horrible joke the fit, perfectly-toned bastards of the world play on people like me who can't run on actual pavement without hurting something, might somehow make me feel better.
