approaching vapid with periodic bouts of genius
Oh what a lovely Labor Day weekend...
The Dude and I took off on a road trip on Saturday morning (his first ever! I totally popped his Road Trip Cherry!) in my champ of a neglected Civic, and spent 3 days driving on gorgeous two-lane country roads, stopping at roadside coffee shops and country stores, and at one point ended up in Saratoga Springs, NY at the Saratoga Race Track on their last day of races for the summer. Where Ken's horse naturally won. He did actually win $14, which perfectly counteracted the $13 I lost, so together we walked away with one dollar. Which we spent on hookers and beer.
To make up for all the patient ooohhing and aaaahing I made Ken respond to at wrought-iron smithing shops and country ceramics stores, we switched the music from Vermont-friendly Indigo Girls-type-stuff to his Manly Man Music Mixes, which put a nice hard edge to the drive. At least on the last day. It was great.
I was wondering if this 3 day constant travelling togetherness might possibly prompt our first snippy tiff, but no luck. We're still fight-free. Sigh.
Meanwhile the floors, I hear, are done in my apartment, so I can go back tonight and not have to deal with any of THAT drama anymore. Which is great. I must say, the Frathouse is going to be really damn nice when all the work and painting is done. We're all pretty excited about it.
I'd love to write more, but I've slacked enough today, and I really do have things to do. Remember when I had varied, copious, interesting things to say on this blog? Yeah, me neither, but remember when I pretended to have varied, copious, interesting things to say on this blog? Yeah, me too. I'll try to think up something fun. Or at least I'll just say that here and continue to post random boring things from my life and bitch about my roommates/job every week or so. If you guys are REALLY lucky I'll start posting cat-pictures. Oh yeah, I'm not afraid to be THAT blogger!
Seriously, though? I'm wanting a dog. We saw some GREAT DOGS this weekend and now I want a dog. I miss having a dog. I do not miss having a cat because one lives at my apartment. He's kinda cute but I like DOGS.
Sigh, someday I will have a dog.
