approaching vapid with periodic bouts of genius

aaaand my sense of worth remains intact

It's allll done.

It's allll over.

I finished the project, due at 6, at 6:05. I went immediately two flights down and into my classroom where we were screening everyone's final projects.

Rave reviews, my friends. Rave. And you know what? I'm not even gonna apologize for that. I worked my ass off on that there project. I still feel that the audio needs a few rough edges cleaned up and the video was pulled together in 2 hours, but that song was my fucking oxygen for 2 weeks. After all that work, I am allowing myself the following very long paragraph to gush about all the awesome and awkward things people said to me (awkward more because I can't take a compliment without scuffing my feet and blushing):

While it was playing, and I was standing in the back, Matt (who thinks the only redeeming value in any form of media is violence and titties) backed up to me, leaned in and said, "... Wow... I mean, I knew you were into music, but I had no idea you were capable of this." Ricardo (whose opinion I greatly respect) said, "Is there anyway you can email that audio file to me? I mean, I hate a cappella, but that was amazing. That's pretty fucking cool that you made me like an a cappella song. That was awesome." He asked me like, 3 times to send it to him. Bride of Rory said, "Wait, that's all you? Like, you just MADE that? Out of nothing? That was so good!" (I told her I wasn't the Dude in the song. That was my friend Blaine. Just giving credit, kids.) Several people told me I should keep doing this and submit my songs to the All A Cappella program at Emerson Radio. Several people wanted copies of it. Ryan said "You have the voice of an angel" (which, you have to know Ryan, he meant that I don't actually have the voice of an angel, but he was giving me a compliment, just in as grandma-y of a way as possible. This is the dude, if you remember way back when, who, in his first encounter with me, started caressing my thigh as I read my paper to the class. Just to be weird and get a reaction, since I didn't even know his name at that point. His sense of humor is wildly, wildly inappropriate and I love him for it. He has since become quite a good friend.) Gay Joe said, "You are so hot right now." My PROFESSOR, who is quite the audiophile himself, and a phenomenal musician, commented several times on how impressed he was with it, with this part, with that part, with the balance, with the mix, with my voice, everything. He said, "My very professional, academic, scholarly opinion is 'shit, goddamn, get off your ass and jam.'"

Now. I can't just write all that without this: While I'm really proud of it, you have to remember this was screened in front of a group of non-musicians who had no idea that I, at one point, WAS a musician. So while I got even MORE compliments than that (hee hee! A LOT more!) that doesn't mean I made like, the most AMAZING piece of music ever to be recorded or anything. It's all in the context. I have had music professors who would have ripped it apart. I'm just saying that because I'm going to try to post it, or a link to it, though, and I can't have anyone who is interested in my pathetic existance enough to click on the link be all expecting, like the Wyld Stallions of the future or anything. (That's a Bill and Ted reference for those of you who may have missed out on THAT gem)

Oh my god it was so much fun making that thing, though, I'm gonna keep doing it.

I think my next project may be Paranoid Android. Or possibly We Belong (I know, I know, Radiohead v. Pat Benetar. It's really six of one, half a dozen of the other, right?)

I SLEEP NOW! SLEEEEEEP!!!

Awww, I already miss everyone! Why do good things have to END!! Most of the people in my class get to keep taking classes together! LUCKY!
